Frequently Asked Questions

What is Medicare and who qualifies?

  • Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older, as well as some younger individuals with certain disabilities. Most people become eligible when they turn 65.

When should I enroll in Medicare?

  • You can enroll during your Initial Enrollment Period, which begins three months before your 65th birthday, includes your birthday month, and continues for three months after. Enrolling on time helps you avoid potential penalties.

What are the different parts of Medicare?

  • Medicare has four parts:

  1. Part A (Hospital Insurance)

  2. Part B (Medical Insurance)

  3. Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans)

  4. Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage)

Each part covers different healthcare services, and choosing the right combination depends on your needs.

What’s the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?

  • Original Medicare (Parts A & B) is provided by the federal government and allows you to see any provider that accepts Medicare.

  • Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are offered by private insurance companies and often include additional benefits like dental, vision, and prescription coverage.

What is a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan?

  • Medigap plans help cover out-of-pocket costs like deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance that Original Medicare doesn’t pay. These plans can provide more predictable healthcare expenses.

Do I need a prescription drug plan (Part D)?

  • If you take medications or want to protect yourself from future drug costs, a Part D plan is usually a smart choice. Delaying enrollment without other credible coverage could result in penalties later.

How much does Medicare cost?

  • Costs vary depending on the coverage you choose. While many people qualify for premium-free Part A, Part B, Advantage plans, and drug plans typically have monthly premiums, along with out-of-pocket costs.

Can I keep my doctor?

  • It depends on the plan you choose. Original Medicare generally allows you to see any doctor who accepts Medicare, while some Medicare Advantage plans use provider networks.

Can I change my Medicare plan later?

  • Yes. You can make changes during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7) each year. There may also be special situations that qualify you for additional enrollment periods.

What if I’m still working at 65?

  • If you have employer coverage, you may be able to delay certain parts of Medicare without penalty. We can help you review your situation to avoid unnecessary costs.

How can you help me choose a plan?

  • I take the time to understand your doctors, prescriptions, and budget to help you compare plans and find one that fits your needs. My goal is to make Medicare simple and stress-free.

Does it cost anything to work with you?

  • No—there’s no cost to you for our services. I am here to provide guidance, answer your questions, and help you enroll in a plan with confidence.

What insurance companies do you represent?

  • I work with a variety of highly rated insurance carriers, giving you access to multiple plan options instead of just one. Refer to the "Carriers represented" tab.

Will you help me after I enroll?

  • Absolutely. I am here year-round to answer questions, review your coverage, and help you make changes if your needs evolve.

How do I get started?
